Science Visit

We currently have some scientists from the Botswana International University of Science and Technology at the reserve. From the arachnology department, they are particular interested in the social spiders and were happy to find plenty of these at Limpopo Lipadi.

The spiders were identified as Stegodyphus domicola, and the scientist noticed some unique behaviors not seen elsewhere. Usually this species nests at the bottom of thorny bushes, while another species nests at the top. The competitor is missing at Limpopo Lipadi, and domicola species has happily filled the niche, with all the nests at high locations. They hope to come back for more interesting research.

14 Wilddogs

The full 14 dogs were on the far north of Materials road last night, playing as the sunset. Great to have some scientists from Botswana international university of science and technology on board. They showed me suicidal spiders, and I showed them the dogs.

Everyone a winner……

Anti-poaching education with School Kids

The volunteer house was cleared out to house 5 kids from local village schools for a week. Fortunate Phaka from Youth 4 African Widlife imparted his knowledge about ecosystem function to the kids, and showed them elephant, lions, wild dogs and all the myriad elephants of the reserve. This experience will be built on to enhance our anti-poaching awareness in the local communtiy.
